Speaker Bio
Guoming Lai is the Tom E. Nelson Jr. Regents Professor in Business and professor of operations management for the Department of Information, Risk, and Operations Management at The University of Texas at Austin's McCombs School of Business.
Lai teaches undergraduate and graduate management courses in operations, supply chain, logistics and inventory, and pricing and revenue. Doctoral students whom he has advised have gone on to tenure-track positions in leading business schools.
Lai's research explores production and operations management issues within a broad range of contexts, including health care, agriculture, trade, competition, collective bargaining, contracting, international taxation, and the stock market. He presents his research widely at conferences and invited seminars.
Associate editor of Management Science, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Journal of Management Science and Engineering, and Operations Research Letters, Lai also serves as senior editor of Production and Operations Management and as a referee for more than a dozen journals.
He received a Ph.D. in management of manufacturing and automation and an M.S. in industrial administration from Carnegie Mellon University.
